Steel shopfront doors and glass shopfront systems give retail and hospitality spaces a refined entrance with slim framing, generous glazing and a distinctive architectural finish. The Arcade is conceived as a bespoke Black Steel commercial system rather than an off-the-shelf storefront: door arrangement, screens, glazing bars, colour and hardware are developed around the opening and the way the space will be used.
The concept takes its visual cue from Black Steel’s Central London external French door project, where a custom gold finish transformed a practical external entrance into a strong architectural feature. The same approach can be developed for boutiques, restaurants, showrooms and other specification-led commercial frontages.

Glass & finishes
Clear, laminated, acoustic and decorative glazing can be considered according to the selected system and project specification. Full RAL colour selection and bespoke architectural finishes can be developed for the design.
Sizes
Bespoke to the opening. Final leaf sizes, overall dimensions and structural requirements are confirmed during design and engineering for the selected system.
Performance
Thermal, acoustic, fire, security and accessibility requirements are project-specific. Where certified performance is required, the appropriate Black Steel system is selected and specified for the project.

For a boutique, restaurant or showroom, the entrance is part of the brand experience. Bespoke steel shopfront doors can create a strong first impression without overwhelming the façade. Slim steel framing allows larger areas of glass, helping displays, interiors and lighting remain visible from the street while preserving the crisp geometry associated with steel architecture.
Black Steel commercial systems can also be considered for banks, embassies, government and council buildings where the design brief calls for a tailored steel and glass solution. Performance, security and compliance requirements are assessed individually and are never assumed from appearance alone.
